STEM X Games

To increase participation in our lessons, we framed question-and-answer activities as lighthearted games, developed one-to-one relationships with the children. This took pressure off the kids and made learning feel fun and enjoyable. These games not only let them work collaboratively but also allowed them to digest concepts gradually.

Structure of typical ~1-2 hour session

Introduction to Topic

Here, our volunteer facilitators explain the theory behind the topic to the participants. Usually will include diagrams, videos or simulations as visual aids.

Practical Portion

Then, our facilitators will conduct a related practical (simulations, utilizing coding platforms to apply the theory part, constructing models, etc.) as the hands-on portion of the session. This helps our participants grow a deeper interest and understanding of topic in real life application.

Wrap Up

Finally, this time is taken for a debrief, or in the case of STEM X Games, emphasizing on the topics learnt, giving real-life application examples (and advice for applying in studies), or cleaning up.
